It was supposedly fixed by Patrick in the last update which happened the other week. Guess not... I have gone ahead and written my own handler and overwritten deaths office. It should work as it used to before his implementation. I keep dying from NPCs because the bot doesn't bring any food with ferox teleports automatically enabled. My bot has 24 hp.
