One picture lists them as i7-7800x and i7-7820x, while the other lists them as i9. If you're building a new computer, I'd say either one of those would be a nice middle of the road approach, though. If you're upgrading from a previous top of the line, you may as well go higher.

The server edition CPUs from even 2-3 years ago far outshine these desktop models in terms of on-die memory

The only things that would be better about these CPUs are that they have more cores and a newer architecture. The other stats are pretty much the same for extreme edition
