Focal point for the first picture was the eyes, and focal point for the second picture was his glove. Is this as intended?

 

Not sure what ur exactly saying, the depth of the first is fine. Obviously the focus character on the first one and I made that clear since the lighting is on the character mostly.

 

As for the second one, i don't exactly know what happened there, i wasn't focused.

Focal point is the point that your viewer happens to lie their eye first on. Obviously if you blend certain colors the human eye will automatically be attracted. For me it happened to be the eyes in the first picture and the glove in the second picture. I think abusing the idea of a focal point really increases the quality of art.
