Thanks for your feedback! That salamander bug is one I've reported to the developers. It is a bug within their interaction.
As far as you pausing the script and interacting with it yourself, the script can only notice when it does something, not when a human interacts with it. That's why it is best if you just let it do its thing. :p
I will look into the problem you said about walking to another trap first to disable it or check it whenever you are currently standing on one. I've never experienced this, and it doesn't seem like something that happens too often, but I will try my best to replicate it.
