Is it profitable to start with BTC/other crypto
Jordan replied to Dont Panic's topic in Spam/Off Topic
Do your own research on blockchain technology. Read the Internet of Money by Andreas Antonopoulos. Do research on Ripple and why it's different than Bitcoin. People who don't understand blockchain technology are the only ones who doubt it. Nobody who understands it doubts it. That said half a trillion market cap right now is at least slightly overvalued so we will see what 2018 brings. -
No I'm not. Thanks! I like to think so Thank you GG, but ty. Update on the rig. I made it open air now that winter is in full-force. Increased my profit consistency greatly. I'm up to around $16-17 per day now, with $13-14 as my floor now when it used to be my average.

Net neutrality is a joke. The internet operated fine until the government got involved. You already pay tiered services for your phone provider, why should the internet be different. This net neutrality movement is the single biggest spread of misinformation I've seen. An old grandma wanting to check her email once or twice per day should not have to pay as much as a gaming/pirating memester who just sucks up bandwidth. You are an absolute fool if you think companies will charge $10 for netflix, $10 for youtube, etc. That's the biggest lie I've ever heard. Nobody would pay for that, so it doesn't make sense for a company to offer that. If a company does something you don't like you do not have to buy from that company, nobody is forcing your hand. Capitalism and a free market will work itself out like always. When government gets involved in something it shouldn't it limits growth. Imagine how much cheaper internet could be with the free market being able to work without restrictions. If you don't like your internet being limited protest the company, don't go crying to the government. Didn't want to make this political but this is relevant so screw it. When republicans see something they don't like, they don't buy it. When democrats see something they don't like, they try to restrict it and ban for everyone.

You'd probably need to be at $1/day at least, maybe more before it's worth it to mine after electricity costs. It would still use a lot more power than it does sitting idle.
-
Probably not worth it, CPU mining isn't lucrative afaik. But, I'm not 100% sure based on your circumstances, it's worth downloading winminer or nicehash to find out.

winminer 10.27 cent. Estimating around 750w power consumption ~ 55/month.

Haha yep, it actually costs money to create a currency, gotta love it. Update: The first half of November I didn't calculate for because I was using my profits instantly on investments. Conservatively I made around .45 Zec. I then switched to hoarding my ZEC and stockpiled .5484 ZEC. About 1 ZEC and $330 from Nov 1st until today. Finally made the decision to switch to winminer and I must say I prefer it over nicehash. After getting windows re-installed and a slight underclock for power purposes I'm making $15-16/day and also mining on my personal comp when comp is idle. At this rate I'm looking at $450 a month and I'm stoked, that's about a 6 month ROI. I might play around with overclocking a bit more and see if I can't get $16/day

Yep

Yes, very hot.

Yeah, the number itself isn't impressive. I had my fair share of struggles keeping it online 24/7 but now that it's stable and at 2300-2500 sol/s I'm looking at $340~ at current rates, $320 with downtimes conservatively. I should make it clear that It makes sense for me to operate even at $100-150 a month because I'm pumping the money into investments, $340 is gravy. Mining isn't for everyone, I'm not acting like this is a get rich quick method. It's in the OP. I looked into genesis mining but it costs $4,900 for 2 years for 175MH/s on ethereum which is what I get out of my rig, plus I have actual hardware that I could get rid of if needed. Could be a good idea for others though. They are. I just need to run them 24/7. https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/zec?HashingPower=2300&HashingUnit=H%2Fs&PowerConsumption=0&CostPerkWh=0.10

$400 total mined. After trades it's already a few thousand. Not exactly sure because I have other investments in there so I'm not sure how much I've made off the $400 alone. Also about $100 spent on electricity so far.

It's been exactly one month and I've been paid 1.1315 ZEC which is about $260 bucks at todays price. I had around 5-6 days accumulated downtime between power outages, heating issues and laziness. I have been actively investing in bitcoin though, rode the rise from $4700 to $6700. So made some good money Finally got the rig steady the last 2 weeks, so next month should be a lot smoother. Knock on wood. Cost is around $1.56 electricity per 24 hours (assuming 24/7 uptime). Revenue is around $9.88 per 24 hours (assuming 247 uptime). Profit is around $8.32 per 24 hours (assuming 24/7 uptime). Calculates out to about a year (from now) before an ROI on pure mining profits assuming profitability stays the same. Assuming a rate of decline it could be more than that. Luckily I've been making good profit trading the crypto that I've been mining which was my goal. Including investments I've already made more than my money back and it doesn't look like it will stop soon.

My friends had me follow them and completed my first quests for me basically. We did quests in groups, was more fun. Did a few quests on my own if I remember correctly but way too frustrating, gotta just look up the guides. Personally never liked quests, but I know some people that loved them.

Pretty much gunna steal @Project's post here and just admit I need some time to focus on other things and don't want to hold back the staff team. I really enjoy being a staff member when I can be active, but right now is not that time and so I'm resiging. I will still be on OSBot frequently buying 07/rs3 and in the community. Just wont be moderating for now.

Now that I'm mining ZEC payouts are a lot quicker. I have received 10 pays totaling .1158 in a little under 3.5 days of mining. This is $28.74. From now on I think I'll do monthly updates on my profit per month unless I change anything crazy. Unfortunately mining returns slowed down but this is still more than I would be making with SIA + ETH. If I had an uptime of 24/7 I would make a bit more, but I have about a 90-95% uptime. It's actually difficult to achieve 100% up time between automatic reboots, unexpected crashes, tuning & refinements, loss of power, fuse pops. I'm hoping to continue to iron out these issues as they come.
