  1. Sure it doesn't. Look back to a post I made earlier, If you get punished in real life it doesn't solely impact you. So why should punishments from other sources be the same? They shouldn't
  2. If it's allowed, I would help my friends with whomever they are scammed by Also, nah, you can claim self defence. If them stealing from you made you scared for your safety you can defend yourself. Whether you were at risk or not doesn't matter, only if you felt as if you were at risk. It's also more like, as it stands, if you scam someone the only thing that happens is an account ban. You can just do it again. If you get harassed irl, I'm sure you'd think twice
  3. Of course. That's why you implement measures against it. Aka, punishments. Which is the exact same thing that's happened in real life. If you steal $50 from someone in real life, a punch to the face should be expected. Nobody will frown you for doing it. - Zappa That's completely true. So why is stealing $50 from someone online suddenly grants you a safespace and you can't be touched? It's literally the exact same thing. You're stealing $50. The only thing we can do to people online is fuck with them in real life, why's that so wrong?
  4. That's why I said only after they've been banned for it. After the dispute is solved I think it should be allowed. As for moral standards, that's why I said it shouldn't be encouraged, just not punished either. If we don't get punished for it, we can fuck with them all we want. As it stands, I've sat back watching my friends fuck with people who get banned because I'm too scared of getting banned for assisting with doxing / irl harassment. I'd like to do it. You can't honestly tell me that it's socially unacceptable to punish someone for committing a crime. That'd be like saying that police in real life is a bad idea. I know that comparison is a little far fetched, but if you get arrested you ruin your social life - no? All your friends and family know your dumb ass got arrested for stealing. You don't get arrested for stealing online. But we can harass them in real life and let their friends and family know that their dumb asses stole shit online. In my eyes, I view this as a much less severe punishment for the exact same crime. I don't see the problem at all. It's like a public 'police' force. As dumb as that sounds, nobody can tell me that I don't have a point here. Yeah, if it was added to the tos that you agree to upon account creation it'd be allowed. Granted, all the current users would have to re-agree to that. Current banned users wouldn't be able to have their shit leaked, but future ones could. It is illegal to publicly display, yes. Not illegal to collect it yourself. That's why I said it shouldn't be encouraged - that'd be illegal. Having no punishments for it though has no correlation to osbot with legal problems.
  5. To add on to the benefits of using a usergroup for bans, you can leave feedback after they're banned in case they've scammed you as well after being banned. I understand that currently you dispute them, but surely that's more work for mods handling an appeal than if there was feedback left.
  6. Why not? I said if they've been proven to scam. I'd say it's more like an actual punishment for their crime In real life if you get caught stealing, you're punished. On here, you're banned. You can just create a new account and re-scam. If someone fucks with your real life, you'll be weary of scamming - no? I also said it shouldn't be encouraged; just not punished. Awfully incorrect. It'd be like an actual punishment from my eyes. Yessir. Would be great to collaborate as a group lul
  7. Yes, I definitely agree. Personally I think that they should create a new usergroup for banned accounts, rather than using the ban option for accounts. I dislike that I can't view users profiles and see their feedback. The banned usergroup should be restricted from being able to post on the forums - not including an appeals section. This would also be (in my opinion) much neater for ban appeals. Rather than creating a new account to submit an appeal. Anyone could just go ahead and submit a ban appeal for a users account that isn't theirs as it stands. It's been awhile since I've used IPBs acp, but if I remember correctly you can revoke privacy permissions on usergroups. If a new group was created, displaying an email publicly would be easy. On another note (These are just my morals) I think that users who do scam and are proven for it, should not be respected by the community or defended by staff members. To be more straight forward with what I want to get at here: I think that if somebody scam quits, we should be allowed to dox and harass that person without any consequences. I understand that this can't be encouraged. But I feel as if there should be no punishments for doing things like this.
