I bet someone tried abusing the recovery system to hack your account, which is why you got the password reset request. Also, in the past when I had nice accounts banned on proxies I would act like they were hacked and "recover" them. Then, sometimes they would unban my account just after going through the recovery process. Congrats on getting the account back

Personally I found that area does affect bans. To be more specific, your bots will have a lower ban rate when on tiles with even X and Y coordinates. Picture for reference:
