I'm pretty sure you have a week to complete the quest till you cannot wear it anymore.

I think you just wont be able to equip it

 

This. If you have one on RS3, when a new quest comes out you will need to do it to be able to equip the cape again.

    Yes.

    You just can't wear it until the quest is complete, I don't think the cape just "vanishes".
