Risk of Buying/Selling Accounts

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I just recently bought a nice account for a good price.

Wanted to know if its risky doing the same.

Do these accounts get banned often?

Can someone explain how it works?

Accounts can always be recovered by their original owner. That's the only risk.

Why is that certain? How can they recover it after you register your email on it?

Because they have all the recovery details.

ISP used to created account.

they could be using the original IP of the account and Jagex can return the account to them...

Thats a little scary...

What are the measures we can take in order to make sure that it will never be recovered? If there are any?

What about putting an authenticator? That should solve the problem right?

Just look at the disputes section on any site and that gives you a rough idea

buy from trusted OO's especially when they give you an acc with an unreg email

From my personal experience I have bought and sold a few accounts, out of them only one was recovered by OO.

The price was cheap so I didn't think and jumped on it , was recovered in less then a week.

But the rest were fine just be sure to buy from well respected people to lower the risk!

Back in high school I bought an account off my 'friend', recovered it a few days later. Imagine how it is with people who are not your 'friend' and you don't know each other IRL.

Like what everyone said, you always have a risk of someone recovering so just buy from a trusted person and you're good

the original owner can always recover an account, only buy from people with a good rep

so everyone here is asking me to buy from trusted sellers.

Who would be considered trusted. If someone could help with criteria for a trusted seller that would be great :)

by unregistered you mean fake email right such as forl@x.x or something?
