I am very much against this as it is very unfair to users who post useful things and actually "earn" those likes. For example contests where you must like the post to join, that's just ridiculous, I think a rules should be implemented for this. Likes may not mean much but they definitely show how useful a person is in a forum imo.

Probably a warning or a reset of likes should be a reasonable punishment.
