Why are bots so terrible these days?

Featured Replies

So I was wondering what is different from the bots we use today compared to say 2011? Back in 2011 you could bot for hours upon hours because the bots rarely ran into a problem, they were near perfect. So why are the bots that are out today so damn terrible? I cant even run a fishing bot for more than an hour without it running into a problem and getting me stuck/logged in for 3hours+ making me look like an obvious bot.

Jagex is smart now. They constantly update random events + their anti-ban system is very good which means that botting has a very high ban rate now.

They are still almost as good as they were, its just now jagex has improved on there detection systems. I do miss the old 2011 bots tho. Those were the days.

I think its because jagex has been update raping like crazy recently, they will get bored and it will cool down.

Remember, OSBot is still in BETA.

This is also true, but nonetheless bot detection is a lot better these days.

Didn't those bots have years of development compared to osbot having months of development?

Thats exactly what i was thinking No advertising is "flawless" for the most part because their API is 25x larger than OSB's api and have methods to get around nulls.

Not to mention the fact that there are 0 random events in EOC. :o

OSRS has a shit ton more randoms then back in actual 07.  the frequency is super-high plus they have years of experience dealing with bots that they didn't have back then.

Although the above responses are correct, i do see where you are coming from. It really does seem as though script quality has dropped a lot in comparison to previous years.

I think OSbot is great for the time being, especially for a free bot.

Yeah, but I still think that ever since the first bot nuke jagex implemented, they have found better ways to stop bots on a larger scale. There will always be around it and there will always be bots though, its a losing fight with jagex.
