It's not that gold is leaving the game. It's more that if enough people switch over to dead man mode and sell their 07gp in the wake, then there will be fewer sellers of 07gp, which will in turn lead to a tighter concentration of sellers and relatively the same amount of buyers. This leads to less supply of gold with relatively the same demand which will in turn lead to a price increase. If this goes on long enough and dead man mode grows more then it's possible gold prices may go even higher to somewhere in the past(very unlikely to ever be $3 again but possibly $1.8 after several months). This is all just speculation but fundamentally in economics if demand remains constant or increases and the supply decreases, then it follows prices will increase proportionately to match the disparity. 2
