dang not bad

Thank you.

Mostly used tutorials over youtube to help me. It's crazy what you can learn.

Not bad. You still should download PS or ware it. It´s way more advanced software that allows you to make visually more spectacular stuff than with gimp, if you don´t master it.

I have photoshop and I've messed around with it on my own a little.

I may try to make something with that later on but for now, I'm going to use GIMP for practice.

But thanks for heads up.

Wooooahhhh woooahhh, Gimp can do ANYTHING PS can do for the record. And I have plenty to back it.

no puppet/perspective wrap. no 3d functionality etc

it doesnt have a refine edge either i believe

you find a lot more support for photoshop as they have a bigger user base and even forums help. more tutorials. its a professional standard program too, user support is amazing if you have CC

The first two there ARE plugins for, it DOES have 3d functions built in for standard.

I think you may be right about refined edges, I'd have to look into that one. (Though you can do it with multiple functions to achieve the same results)

The rest, you are correct about, it is much bigger and much easier to find help on.

But I stand by my statement, though some items may not be exactly as easy(some filters require a few extra steps compared to PS), it can still do them!

^half of refined edge. (after you'd obviously have to apply a feather/sharpen etc)

the 3D function is just bevel and emboss :P very limited

the prespective is just a skew, not as powerful as the photoshop one

and thats not refine edge :s

here is photoshop's 3d function

as you can see it creates models which can be fully rotated

perspective and puppet wrap

read through what ive linked and just view the videos on the pages, gives you an idea of how powerful photoshop is, if you wanted the same result with GIMP i dont even think its possible and if it is it would take you days? heheheh

It would require more work, I can't deny that, free vs tons of $$$. But its still doable.

(the ones i linked aren't great, nor are they tutorials, the functionality is there, just a bit more effort)

I'm just trying to state, its still all doable in gimp, whether it take more effort or not, its still there, and still can be done.

maybe but the days that Photoshop is expensive are over! You can get the latest version of Photoshop constantly updated for just £8.49 a month :)
