Incentive to quit smoking

19% better lung capacity

0,5% less risk for lung cancer (50% in 3years,11month)

0,3% less risk for a stroke (like a non smoker in 4years, 11 month)

These stats are misguiding, as you didn't GAIN but instead DIDN'T LOSE. Instead of having 19% better lung capacity than you did a few days ago you just didn't lose that 19% (I highly doubt these statistics are accurate).

Good luck with your goal, I'm not exactly sure why people start smoking in the first place.

I know that the statistics can't be true. It motivates though.

Well i started smoking due to working in a car garage. It's stupid to start, it was some kind of "smoke to get social at work"...

I know that's stupid. No need to tell me that lol

He lost lung capacity while smoking, he quit so he's not anymore. On top of that he is actually winning that previously lost lung capacity back, the respiratory system is extremely good at "fixing" itself:

Initial lung capacity = I
Lost lung capacity = L
Current lung capacity = I - L

While (not smoking && Current lung capacity < Initial lung capacity) {
Current lung capacity++;
}

A rather vulgar formula from my aunt (a doctor): if you quit for (years you smoked * 3) you will have relatively clean lungs again.

Oh and people start smoking for the same reasons people start drinking: peer pressure, tradition, anti-conformism, teenage rebellion, to look cool, boredom, curiosity, etc...

...and then it becomes a fucking prison, extremely quickly.
