Swizzbeat
19% better lung capacity 0,5% less risk for lung cancer (50% in 3years,11month) 0,3% less risk for a stroke (like a non smoker in 4years, 11 month) These stats are misguiding, as you didn't GAIN but instead DIDN'T LOSE. Instead of having 19% better lung capacity than you did a few days ago you just didn't lose that 19% (I highly doubt these statistics are accurate). Good luck with your goal, I'm not exactly sure why people start smoking in the first place.

Well i started smoking due to working in a car garage. It's stupid to start, it was some kind of "smoke to get social at work"... I know that's stupid. No need to tell me that lol
Nick
Smoking is disgusting, I'm not sure how people get hooked on it to begin with. There's way too many alternate options to relieve stress and nicotine addiction than just smoking a pack a day. Best of luck, I really hope you end up quitting. Botre
These stats are misguiding, as you didn't GAIN but instead DIDN'T LOSE. Instead of having 19% better lung capacity than you did a few days ago you just didn't lose that 19% (I highly doubt these statistics are accurate). He lost lung capacity while smoking, he quit so he's not anymore. On top of that he is actually winning that previously lost lung capacity back, the respiratory system is extremely good at "fixing" itself: Initial lung capacity = I Lost lung capacity = L Current lung capacity = I - L While (not smoking && Current lung capacity < Initial lung capacity) { Current lung capacity++; } A rather vulgar formula from my aunt (a doctor): if you quit for (years you smoked * 3) you will have relatively clean lungs again. Oh and people start smoking for the same reasons people start drinking: peer pressure, tradition, anti-conformism, teenage rebellion, to look cool, boredom, curiosity, etc... ...and then it becomes a fucking prison, extremely quickly. TzTok Jad
Vaping great way to stop smoking. Healthier etc. I quit ciggs 8 months ago for my vape, in that time I've cut my nicotine to 1/4th that of a regular cigg. Breath better, feel better, taste better. Volta
1 pack a day? That's hell a lot. Hope you can quit smoking. I smoke about 2 a day because I really need it to relieve stress. See a doctor. You're better off taking meds to relieve stress, they are healthier for u lmao. Edited January 4, 2015 by Volta
Joseph
Let me be the first to say I don't smoke cigs but the alternative herbs. Is that any better? Edited January 4, 2015 by josedpay

Fantabulous
Gl on quitting, just keep strong and it'll all be good. This system though, people who fucked up their lungs with smoking have the same priority on getting a donor lung as people who were born with the need for one. Botre
This system though, people who fucked up their lungs with smoking have the same priority on getting a donor lung as people who were born with the need for one. Only age and urgency (and eventually waiting time) should matter. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of lung transplants involves smokers anyways :p
