It is possible to alch and actually make profit.

 

The way is simple, but takes time.

the materials you need are:

Yew logs (480 ea) 

Flax (55 ea)

Nature Rune (230 ea)

 

This leaves you with a total of 765. Use the Flax to spin Bow Strings, and a knife and Yew Logs to cut Yew Longbow (u). Now make Yew Longbows. Then start alching them. Yew Longbows alchs for 768 each, which gives you a profit of 3 gp per alch (obviously depending on the price you buy for).

 

from 55 - 99 Magic, you need to alch 197967 times. 3 x 197967 = 593901 GP all profit from 99 Magic.

 

In addition, you wil get level 84 crafting for spinning 197967 bow strings and a total of 29.7m fletching XP from completing 197967 Yew Longbows.

 

I really hope this wuick guide was for any help to you on your way to 99 Magic. And remember that this is a time consuming way to 99 Magic. you can easily buy some of the Yew Longbows just to shorten the time, but that is completely up to you. 

You forgot to say this would take you about 10 years to do unless you had an army of bots spinning flax for you..

It would be more profitable to make money instead of spinning flax, and then accepting a loss with each alch.

Just wanted to prove to people that it acctually is possible to alch with a profit, which is something a lot of poeple says is impossible. So I just decided to write a short guide on how you can, and your reqards for this. As I sais in the end, It is time consuming, and I would personally prefer not to do this 197967 times.

Its hard to get them for less than 1300ea.

 

I'm currently alching green dhide bodies, buying them at 4500ea, alch for 4680ea and i make a respectable 50gp loss on each.

For greendhide vambs its like 80gp loss each but easier to buy mass bulk with a small bank.

I spent 17m on 4000 green dhide bodies, that'd get me over 10k green dhide vambs to alch

Superheating steel bars is a profitable method also, but it's more work than alching and it's not as fast. Still a solid profit though.

Just superheat... 75k xp/hr.. Faster + profitable.

You could earn even more by just selling the bows when they are finished :P

Indeed, it is profitable but it's better to just 99 alch with some loss and with the saved time to goldfarm something.
