I'm not really sure how long i should be botting a day, i don't want to get banned, but how long do you guys bot for at one time? 

theres no safe amount of time in general.  you could bot for 5 minutes and be banned or you could go for days and have no repercussions. 

As for me i bot for 8-12 hour sessions with breaks in every few hours on 4-6 accounts

I usually bot for an hour at a time with fifteen minute breaks in between and so far have not been banned.

I bot like 3-4hrs with 30minute breaks, But im botting astrals which is really really safe so yeah :p Have botted since botting started back in like pff 2007 never been banned only once on 07 but only for 2days

Over how long of a period of time?

I break 20 minutes every two hours. It all depends on where/what your botting too. Goodluck!

i bot 24/7 if my computer dont turn off

Hmm, i bot like 8-10hours Day. 2-3 hrs botting 1h break

i bot 10 hours a day and break for 9, haven't been banned yet, i also make it take breaks when I feel it should meaning i don't fully go with the break handler if i feel its had a long enough break i pause it and unpause it to make the bot realize its been logged out, or i'll just pause it and log it out for like 30 mins etc etc.

320 mins botting, 120 mins break.

I do it 24/7 because I believe that the amount of time you bot has no effects on bans whatsoever, unless your IP is flagged.

6 hours bot, 2 hours break

20min breaks every 2 hour is what I do
