Why does racism still exist in our Society?

I grew up in a football program where all the black kids beat the shit out of us white boys. My dad would skip school growing up because he'd get the shit beat out of him on the way home. I've never had good experiences with black people. Why shouldn't I hold something against them? With that said I intellectually don't care about race. My limited scope of experience in southern Texas does not reflect an entire race of people. I'm nice to every one I meet. Personally, however, I just avoid them. Also, Vietnamese people are rude, but that's a matter of culture.

'Why shouldn't I hold something against them'

You should never judge anything as a whole based on the actions of individuals wink.png

Racism will never go away, you will always have rude, shallow and judgemental people in the world.

Very interesting topic, my personal look on things is some people are just ignorant and blind. They enjoy putting others down, for any reason. I respect the people that don't retaliate to racist comments towards them. I don't see it ever going away, sadly. It's just one of those things that won't likely ever be fixed.

I believe that a big reason why racism is still around are the people who hold onto the past and believe they are owed something.  As an example I will use a small percentage of the black community, who continue to use the N word, and feel offended or feel the need to be violent when used towards them.  If the thing we are striving for is racial equality, than words used should have an equal response from all races.  If I, being a white male, was called the N word.  It wouldn't bother me, nor should it bother anyone else.

Racism will always exist for as long as people keep talking about it, I don't discriminate against any race or sexual preference. Race wise, everyone is the same in my eyes, they are just like me. Sexual wise, I dont care what your into as long as your happy im happy.

It's sad seeing normal innocent muslims called 'terrorists'

It's sad seeing normal innocent muslims called 'terrorists'

It really is.. especially around the northeast US after the whole bombing in boston stuff, people are very quick to judge, I myself am muslim and even if a friend joked around an called me "Terrorist" to fvck around.. I would still get really offended an get a little hostile, People don't like terrorism over here.. try being in Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Isreal etc... mothers holding their 4-6 year old kids in their arms blown up by random bombings and shootings everyday, its really not a joke, an a lot of people don't understand it.

Studies have shown that racism is linked to a lower IQ. I thought this little piece of information could be useful towards the topic. smile.png

Very true !

But personally I feel as though a lot of people have some sort of connection to their past ancestors that could have been racist (ex. Slave owners, KKK Affliated, Nazi Affliated etc..)

Im a Turk, Turks supposedly committed a genocide on Armenian people.. Do I hate them in present time due to this event in history? No I don't and there are many Armenians that will say the same about Turks with both kinds of people living in each others countries these days. But then again there is that small % that still feel they have something left to prove, These are the same kind of people that can be racist towards African American, Jewish, Muslim, Asian, Spanish and Caucasian, or considered a "Racist" why? Because they have never learned the concept of tolerance..

could be the wrong kind of nationalism one feels where they think their kind is superior, more people should really research and look into their lineage, and see the troubles and hardships many Generations before them had to experience to get YOU to where YOUR at TODAY... Think about it, it really makes you appreciate life for what it is.

Show me evidence to back up this claim please?

Who conducted the study?

I believe Racism still exist because of the Media. They take everything overboard, saying WHITE male kills BLACK male. Or BLACK male kills WHITE male. Like shouldn't it just be Male kills another? I mean once the blacks (no offence) see that all hell breaks lose. Same thing with the Trayvon Martin case.... but they were hype as shit when OJ was plead not-guilty.

I agree with you to some extent, also the way the media portrays the news sometimes, it makes it look as though they support the prejudice behind a certain race.

im 'racists' towards the boat people because they come to our country and we don't have the resources to help them..they often get into crime etc

Well im muslim AND my parents are of pakistani ethnicity but born in England.

Racism  is something i see day in day out to be honest.

Where i live in bradford there was a big Race riot between asian people and the NF (national Front) years ago

after that things seem to get better but i blame lack of education, lack of integration and the media.

Yes it is true when a muslim or pakistani will do a crime the media will identify him as a Muslim man not an asian man

or man from so and so place Which i find unfair but we could go on all day about this topic.

End of the day i see a white person or a chinese person or black or whatever there colour race religion as the same as me..

I dont see the problem in skin colour.

Look at the case of Christopher Alder

No one even knew of the poor ex military Black man who was killed in police custody

it wasnt shown initially on media until years after.

There are to many reasons why Racism is still around. A logical one is imigrancy though. Basically, the best way to explain would be using my own city. A long time ago, it was mostly white people in my city. Over the decades, a huge amount of east indians have come from across the sea to live here. They come here, work, buy buisnesses, have huge families, and nowadays, in this city you cannot find a buisness that isn't owned by an east indian or an asian person. They are taking over. My city has more east indians than white people now, and it's gotten so bad to the point where we can't celebrate christmas in our schools because it's offending the east indian religeons. It's completely bullshit, in my opinion. Everywhere around here perfectly fine houses get bought, torn down, and then new houses built to support a 20 member family. I live in the basement suite of one right now. Alot of buisnesses will even have service in punjabi, or arabic, etc. Also, alot of these people being from india can't properly function and drive in the city streets, and almost ALL accidents are caused by them, or involved with them. They are also notorious for being the biggest insurance fraud scammers.

Tl;dr I am sick of imigrants coming and taking over this city because they speak pour english, have pour road sense, and religeious traditions can't be celebrated because of them.

I'm not racist though, don't get me wrong. There are some very smart people from all different places in this world, and I'll definatly have a conversation or friend any one of any skin colour, that's just what's going on in my city and what I think of it and how it applies to racism.
