Stop closing threads that do not seem to need closing!

Featured Replies

Title is pretty self explanatory. I think threads tend to be closed based on personal opinions which should NOT be why the thread is closed.

I do not feel the  need to post any real justification because in my eyes at least, it's pretty common sense to why you should not let your biases and opinions effect your judgement on matters such as these.

Example

http://osbot.org/forum/topic/4189-vip-too-expensive-imo/

(inb4 we closed this thread because we cannot afford to lower it etc, I don't see that stated in the thread; only if stated it is a valid reason to close the thread)

I should not have to be suggesting this.

On another smaller note (my original 'suggestion' ties in with this one:

If you lock a thread, justify why you have locked it so people do not get the wrong idea; if you care about what the community thinks how you run things then it should also be obvious to why this is important to an extent.

I may justify my reasoning later on if I can be bothered and if it is required.

Edit:

Rofl @ the title.  Yeah, I'm p tired etc.

I 100% fully support you.

I have unreleased evidence of Maldesto closing threads preemptively, and being rude when asked why the threads were closed. (I don't want to break the rules and get another thread closed, so tell me why it was closed)...

I also have evidence of Maldesto banning without valid reason, and hiding/deleting threads that were negative feedback against him.

I haven't released it yet because I don't think I'd have the support needed and I would look silly.

I support this and have supported this prior to this post.

You hit the nail on the head and I give you a thumbs up.

Yes I've seen a lot of threads getting closed by Maldesto which shouldn't be closed, I'm not hating on him his doing a great job but just needs to relax on closing threads.

100% support. I believe that alot of the threads closed are personal

I didn't lock that thread you linked. I also have been posting my reason for closing threads now, as i have been getting pm's saying "why did you close" So i just post before i close it and let you know. It is funny, because you can't see who closes threads, so all this speculation that I'm doing it is just you wanting to think that. I mean i'm the most active besides rafl, but it isn't always me.

@ jason, you don't have proof of me banning for no reason, you know why you were banned, and if you continue to debate it on the forums, i will temp ban your forum account. I have told you i have had enough, and so has EVERY other member of the staff. The negative feedback from me wasn't hid, unless it was offensive, which it would have been hid by any moderator, and it would have been hid if it was directed at any of the staff. I never hid any topic that talked about me, just like i won't hide your post.

@Mald My thread isn't just about you, or I would have mentioned you in the OP. However, by the comments I would say you may have to re-review certain aspects of the way you moderate.

It's good that you now comment your reasoning for locking threads.

Two smaller points:

Temp-banning someone because they're complaining about you is pretty OTT, if you can prove his claims are slander and you don't mind proving it then of course a temp ban is reasonable.

I feel a bit bad because you get no reward that I can see for moderating however, I do believe you can and should improve your moderating skills.
