I need someone to decrypt a password algorithm

Featured Replies

I have a piece of equipment that programs computers on vehicles but only works once then locks itself. I need to figure out the algorithm it uses because everyone lock has an unlock password. When I have contacted the manufacturer about this they ask for the last 6-8 numbers/letters off the VIN of the vehicle. So the algorithm as best as I can figure converts letters to numbers, then runs through a formula to generate the unlock code. The piece of equipment is never connected to the internet so there is no online checks or generated codes. I have also considered bypassing this entire predictament and trying to figure out a way to flash the hardware and somehow after I use the hardware and it becomes locked, wiping and reflashing. But there is a guy in my area who has already figured this out because he is who I currently buy the pieces of hardware from and he always requires them back so he can recrack.

I don't know if anyone on this website has the capability to do this but if you can point me in the right direction and if I am able to come to a resolution I'll cut you a check for a couple hundred.

What's your goal?

To unlock the piece of hardware that becomes locked.

In layman terms let's say you buy a video game and it comes with a CD-Key that is only usable on one computer, but for special circumstances there is an unlock code that you can type into the game that unlocks it so it can be used once again. And that the unlock code is generated by the last half of the cdkey based off a formula.

I want to use something I paid for on more than one thing, but it becomes locked after once. I can buy the unlock codes, which I plan on doing so I can figure out how they calculate the unlock code.

Sounds like the current thing that's happening to blue ray players, if you're familiar with the current news with them. I'd recommend making a post on http://www.hackforums.net/ as I guarantee there will be a ton of kids over there that could do this in minutes.
