doing push-ups every hour ?

Featured Replies

Well i work a fulltime all night job and i don't do shit at work , i basically get paid to be on my laptop . well i decided i will do like 15-20 push-ups every hour from like 12 midnight to 6 am ( will do more pushups as i get to use to them ) 5 days a week .

I'm just curious if doing this will actually help me form a nice chest and gain muscle ? I'm skinny and have a little belly so i shouldnt need that much work to form a better body , do you guys think this is a good idea ? I don't really have any other time to workout cause i pretty much need to sleep all day to come back to work at night

Sounds like you have just the kind of job I've been trying to acquire.
If you're already quite thin just the pushups every night over time will bulk you up a little bit, just don't forget leg day wink.png

just few sets of push ups wont give you much muscle mate. You need more effecting excercise, nutrition and sleep to get some :D

BROOO I literally live the same life as you.  Im at work now, its 5:20 am and I dont get out until 8 am... and I literally am getting payed to be on my laptop... I do stretches every 2 hrs to avoid back problems, but maybe push-ups is a good idea thanks for this.

Shouldn't do a little bit here and there every hour, it would barely tear your muscles open to regrow.

Do a big one, not necessarily long, but a workout that is effective on your body rather than a push up here and there.

If you want something that really hurts and is quick and you can do at work and wont need to do every hour because you'll be dead after the first one for like 3 days, try this:

Who is lazy to doing this like it :)

Short answer: Yes you will gain muscle, not a lot but it will give you a bit of definition, body weight is good resistance, although the shape and growth of your muscles is purely genetics so the forming of your muscles is out of your hands(don't expect a bodybuilder looking chest).

What do you do? But you should try to do a little more, have good nutrition, and sleep well

Doing like that won't give you muscles, but it'll give you LOTS of strength which if you keep up like that your push ups will sky rocket. The question is are you motivated enough to do this?

15-20 pushups an hour is really low unless you just can't do many pushups.

Don't do your max push ups, but do about 80% of your max and wait about 10-20 minutes before you do another set.

Every once in a while, push yourself to do your max to see how much it has increased by. Doing your max over and over isn't suggested, though.

It's also a good idea to try to do other exercises while waiting the 10-20 minutes, such as sit ups or jumping jacks or lifting some weights (these use a different set of muscles than pushups, so it shouldn't affect you at all).

Try to squeeze in some pullups or something as well, and do different types of pushups.
