Hey guys , just thought i might bring a  scam/hack that was done to me about an hour ago to your attention , here i was spending mils left right and centre buying planks to train construction , finished the trade and i get a message from a character name [ OSRS Info ] saying i have been chosen in qualifying to be a moderator , me being a 5+ years player thought maybe it was true or somethin , he asked me plenty of questions like how long i had been playing and so on , one question in there stood out DO I HAVE RECOVERY QUESTION & WHAT IS MY BANK PIN , i had a little sense it might of been a scam but i thought nothing of it and said to the bloke that yeah i got no recoveries and my bank pin is 1472 , (no use hiding it now , got nothing left) , i mysteriously lose connection to my network ( i am with telstra and it was just real bad timing , and i was on my way to changing my pass as soon as i said my bank pin ) come back to my character ABSOLUTELY cleaned out , even took my pumpkin ,so yeah im not gonna lie , i should of been more aware of this so it serves me right 

 

P.S , i had like an insane kinda laugh when i logged on and saw that i was empty 

 

heres what the buggers got lol -

 

-Dragon med helm

-Dragon chainbody -only just bought it 

-Dragon legs

-Dragon boots

-Obby shield 

-MY RUNE SCIM 

-3500 mahogany planks

-2000 oak planks

-1300 normal planks

-1800 steel nails

-1000 dragon bones

-H'ween mask set (bought them when they were like 1 mil each >.>)

-400 of each teleport - was getting ready to bot the fark out of construction 

-1867 - shark

-abbysal whip

-berserker helm

-archer helm

-2300 cannonballs

-Dwarf cannon 

and 3 mil 

 

So i presume that is a good haul for them , and this is a lesson learned for me - DON'T BECOME A MODERATOR LOL =P

yeah it had been like 2 years since i played due to eoc and all the changes i didnt like with runescape coming out , so i hopped on 07 when it come out , and yeah im back being a noob again for example i fell for the 'ill trim your armour bro' scam back in the day

Wow, unlucky. You were obviously a marked target IE he phished you and probably logged into your account and found that you had a bank pin, then decided to trick you this way... Being a player of 5+ years I expect more common sense lol.

seriously? how does someone who's been playing for more than a year fall for such an obvious scam? i mean cmon dude. you really expect a random player (not even a JMod) to msg you in-game that you qualify to be a mod to be legit? hell naw.

yeah i know , i definitely done goofed , but its been a while since i was playing and im not that cautious of a person , im too nice to be honest , whenever i trade someone to buy something if they come to my world i give them an extra 20k or so depending what it is , and alot of that 5 years i didnt follow trends either , i hope on every couple of days to do quests , i was pretty isolated to be honest , as i said earlier i dont really pay attention to the new scams etc.

perma'd = permanent ban

 

and selling/trading/giving account info is against the rules, and so is accepting an account. so he means if someone offers you their account, and you accept (whether it's a scam or not) then you can get perm banned.
