Ads on the bot.

Can't even run 2 bots. This is shit. I'm not a dumbass 13 year old complaning here. It's common since to make sure your consumers are happy, and 1 bot + loads of advertisements aren't making me happy enough to give out my own cash.

Realistically, we can't make everyone happy. But regardless, we do have expenses to pay and everyone should contribute. That's why VIPs don't have advertisements. Their contribution is enough. Like many other sites, advertisements are used to sustain the free service that we're providing. If you disagree with this, then that's fine, but it doesn't change the fact that we have expenses that need to be paid and have chosen to use advertisements to pay for them, rather than turning the bot completely into a paid bot.

It's the same case for virtually any company, you'd rather have them provide a service to you for free. But that realistically never happens because they need to make money to sustain the service.

I think you should add a spot on the bot dedicated for just ads instead of covering half the screen with an ad. The bot isnt in the stage where you can leave it 100% unattended so every time i go to look how its doing theres a massive ad i have to click off. Maybe put a banner under the play/pause/stop button like when  you first load up the bot, or something like that just dont have it on the play screen.

Like this, ad will always be up, cant be hidden by monitor, non-intrusive

We've thought about this. Laz and I have decided that the ads will be displayed while there is a script running (and not while there is no script running). That way, if you want to, you can still play using the bot client. But, if you want to run a script, the advertisements will return at the same interval. We believe that this is an acceptable solution for all parties involved.

Thanks for being reasonable, really appreciate it.

Seems like a fair solution to me.

EDIT:

As some have mentioned, the advertisements are a bit intrusive as they cover most paints, placing could also be adjusted as currently most scripts have to be baby sitted, here's a screenshot.

Vital information like this is hidden.

Could be placed in a better place, although I'm still happy of the improvement.

I totally understand the reason for the ads being up but I agree that they should not be intrusive on your current game screen. I know I am not the only one who doesn't make enough money to pay for VIP, but the avertisement revenue is based on our eyes seeing the ad. It would be nice to have it on the top maybe push for a resizable log down below that can accomodate an advert. Thanks.

When I first read the topic title this was my immediate thought. If you're botting, advertisements don't matter. But sometimes I'm too lazy to load up RS in-browser, and sometimes I like to have a passive xp/hour script running when I play legit to just to see my rate. This is a great compromise.

The only issue here is that many scripters place their paint over the chat box. Even without ads, I'd never do such a thing, because as a botter I'd like to be able to see what is being displayed in chat. I really don't understand it at all, and it just creates a problem with ads and such.

Can anyone explain to me why this paint placement is wrong? Is it not better than what a lot of scripters are doing placing their paint over the chat and beneath the ads?

Yeah, even besides paint, I agree that the ads appearing over the chat interface is annoying because you can't see the chat. I do feel that it's appropriate in terms of a compromise, though. I assume that once OSBot takes off with paid scripts, and the developers get a cut of script sales, the ads will be unnecessary. I see it more as a temporary means of funding the bot, and since it's free, none of us users have any room to complain.

In my opinion the advertisements will stay how they are at the moment, doesn't look like the staff want to change their mind on it.

I guess script writers will just have to adapt their paints to go above the screen.

Agreed. Although I bought VIP and have no ads, I still feel free users shouldn't be bothered by ads.

Great solution, guys! :)

The Ads are plenty annoying.

But Zach's Response is right on.

And now, after dealing with them for a bit... They don't bother me anymore honestly.

I just ignore it.
