Heard of VPN, but what's a VPS? How do I set it up? What the hell does it even do? How will it help me on my journey to start Gold Farming?

A VPS is a Virtual Private Server.

You basically rent a portion of a dedicated server, and you pay for it monthly.

This is useful if your computer isn't strong enough to support your bot farm.

The company you rent one from should set it up for you, and then you virtually access it.

 Pretty much what @Mikasa said, but you should be careful botting on it if that is what it's going to be used for. Don't use popular a VPS.

How would I get it? Is it like a second computer in your computer? Because I have something like that, "Windows XP Professional" that my dad installed to work on, he pirated it from the piratesbay and modified it, but idk if that's what I want and what good would it do, I have the fastest computer around without a doubt, it was worked on by my dad and the parts are worth over 3000 seperatly and together worth a lot more.

If you want to run it on your computer, for example like 2-3 accounts I'd do that. Anything more I'd just get a vpn.

A VPS isn't located on your computer, it's located on a dedicated server elsewhere that you access virtually.

 

& a VPN is just a different internet access point, so you won't be using your house IP, etc.

Actually it's not called a virtual private server because you connect to it virtually. A VPS is different from a dedicated server because a VPS hosts multiple virtual machines on the same physical machine, this can have downsides like if someone else who has a vps on the same server as you gets DDOSed, is using a lot of traffic or hogging resources you will feel the effects on your end, that's one of the reasons they are cheaper than a dedicated server, when you're looking for a VPS you generally want one with a lot of ram

Like everyone said it is a Virtual Private Server. If you are going to use one I would say that it is most likely for a goldfarm or botfarm

I wouldn't use popular vps's as if the vps's got flagged for botting your runescape accounts will be getting banned real quick as jagex flags vps's ip's when they get caught botting.
