OSB List-based Script Execution

Featured Replies

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on the feasibility of implemented something like a task list, either sequential or randomized based on user specification whereby you create a list of scripts to run and settings. For example, say I want to train thieving, I have a saved instance of settings for Draynor Master Farmers as an example, I would then add that to a list (perhaps even have multiple lists because why not at that point?) where the rest of that list might include an Agility script set to do Seers, a Farming script set to do something else, a Slayer script set to do tasks etc. Say we have a 1 hour break timer, perhaps at the end of the break the script might swap over to a different task (thus more human) and either proceed sequentially through a list of specific tasks or shuffle through the designated list.

This way, you leave your script for a few hours or whatever, you have a few skills in mind you'd like to train, you simply input those via saved settings and execute the list. The bot will then load the script and settings and run as normal for the specified time, probably with a suicide mode enabled that will 24/7 as well for those who are interested in such functions.

I believe such a task wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement, the main difficulty would be in saving settings, it wouldn't make sense to do so in memory for large scale operations, but perhaps something like a loader file like xml or similar which can be passed to scripts as needed would be a workable solution. The goal here is obviously variety, interleaving one script after the other to change up what the bot is doing such that hopefully less reports occur and the longevity of the bots is overall increased.

Obvious issues that come to mind potentially arising are based on the quality of the scripts but location dependency could be a problem but like the recent announcement thread regarding the AI Future of OSB says: perhaps the solution is that script creators simply step up their game and find a way to make start position universal via webwalking or something. Further, some scripts require items in inventory on start, perhaps the creators could again modify their scripts for universality via an initial bank run to acquire supplies etc. Either way, any issue that can be faced is likely one which can likewise be fixed.

Thoughts?
