Runescape on Steam

Featured Replies

Jagex has announced that Runescape will be coming to Steam in the next few weeks, with OSRS in the following year.

Im starting this thread to discuss as a scripting community how it might affect the way we do our thing on our end.

Will Jagex be persuaded to crack down even harder on macroing as to hold itself to a higher standard and show new players (which is why they're moving to steam; to attract more people who have never played) that they don't mess around?

Will the client be changed, and in turn effect how stealth/mirror mode works?

Will Valve require that they change how botting will be punished, be it a harsher punishment? As if getting your main perma banned isn't already rock bottom......

These are just some things that went through my mind when I saw the announcement, and i would love to hear and start talking about possible outcomes on how we can be more ready.....should any changes happen that will alter the way we have to do things here.

Who knows, maybe nothing will change at all? Only time will tell...

I don't think that much will change in terms of botting. There will be a lot more players which is always a good thing. Valve probably leaves it up to each developer to enforce anti-cheat in their own way.
