Sam Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 It's because the GIF image you uploaded is too large. The server tries to resize it for you to make it smaller, but removes the other frames in the process. Use this to resize your animated GIF to 130 by 130px and then change your avatar to the smaller GIF.
