I would have to try this out first, I don't think it's supported for UIM yet  But I will definitely consider this method, sounds really good.

Do you know of any scripts or something similar for me to get some crafting levels on a f2p uim? 

The only thing I can recommend is making your own (or checking if that is already made by someone else) in @ProjectPact's Script Factory, since that is a very unique script and there doesn't seem to be a smither with that method supported.

hey man i keep trying to make iron bars in edgeville, but the script keeps trying to make bronze bars. am i doing something wrong here?
 

Will check this now. You 100% sure that didn't misclick and select bronze instead? It happens XD

Yes, I need to make the shells, GE replenishment

Awesome - Shells will be first to have GE replenishment.

EDIT: I assume you meant shields btw, smithing items in general will be first to have GE
