Death

Featured Replies

Hey guys I was reading through the "Intellectual" section and I read a lot of interesting topics so I wanted to create my own. Basically I just wanted to know what your own personal take is on death. Do you believe that you go to heaven or hell or you just think that once your time is up your gone.

A little information on me just so you guys know my opinion and if you disagree I really don't mind just tell me your opinion :) I grew up in a very non religious family sort of. My dad was raised catholic but converted to Buddhism when he got older (he likes the concept of it and isn't crazy with it.) Though he is religious he would never ever force religion on me. I am free to believe in what I want he told me as long as I am aware with other religion and look into them and don't be ignorant. At that point I did believe in god but I was young and couldn't really care less. A year ago my mother passed away and it really just destroyed my life since I was very close with her. After that happened I just couldn't believe in God anymore. That God could just let my mother who I loved to just die from cancer. So for awhile I just had hatred in God. It just has been recent where I am starting to believe in God again but I do not believe in religion. I believe (and call me crazy) that when we die all that dies is our human body and our soul is actually who we are. And our soul will live on. I am not saying we go to heaven and some go to hell. What I believe is we have many journeys to venture and we only realize that once we are dead and this is our first part of our journey. I know it's very strange but yea aha :p

Basically I just wanted to know what you guys believe in. Try and tell me why you think this because I actually want to have a conversation on this topic :)

Thanks

(ignore the post count I read everything o_0)

time is gone

U just keep dreaming , u will not be here on world anymore i guess

Very interesting! I think we die and our soul just stays in the world and we haunt people like ghosts.

That would honestly be awesome

I'm a big believer of fate, when its your time theres nothing you can do to prevent it.

When you're dead you're dead. Total darkness, it'll be like your asleep but never wake up.

I believe that our soul separates from our flesh and we are kind of just watchers now of the world.

It just scares me to think there's nothing after death because of how short life is if you realize it.

this is slightyly of-topic,but has to do with the matter and i think i might get back on-topic later, it's about those near-death "visions" people claim to have when they, well... nearly die.

you have people claiming they saw a white light, or a gate, or something entirely different.

It got me thinking about why it would/could be different for other people, and I thought it might be because you see what you WANT to see, if you believe in the afterlife for your whole life, maybe your brain hallucinates (or not, thats the question isnt it?) and you see what you've believed you would see your entire life. if you've never believed in anything, you might not experience anything too, but if you believe you heart wil be weighed on a scale with the feather of truth to see if your heart gets eaten or not, or the judges of death along with Hades decide whether you go to the fields of punishment, aspholdel meadows or the elysian fields, well then that might be what you see/experience. (that's some free egyptian/greek myhtology right there!) maybe al those myths are true, and the greek gods, egytian gods, and God with a capital G do all excist, but only for those that  strongly believe in them/him. and if you do, you experience the "afterlife" as it was/is in the stories

I dont know why everyone is like "life is short" because it's like the longest thing I have ever experienced

I know one thing I will meet tupac if I go to heaven. :)

Yea actually my Grandma on my fathers side says that she saw a face and a light. To me I don't really believe that but I do believe is right before a person dies they look at peace. This is a case in many ill people right before they pass it looks like they aren't actually sick and are fine and then just pass away. My dad told me the moment my mom died she looked like she was in peace and actually didn't look ill.

I do find that life is extremely short. I find that thinking that there is nothing after death it is quite scary and I for one can't handle it. (call me weak)

and maybe that's why they look at peace: they saw what they expected to see thier entire lives, and they are comforted by it.

it's not weak, but i disagree on the fact that there is nothing after death. think about it, if there "nothing" after death then there's "nothing" to worry about right? nothing isn't something you should be afraid of, as nothing means you wont have any emotions or feelings, it can't be bad or good, because theres nothing. theres no sensation of floating on darkness, so really, theres nothing to fear smile.png

Idk honestly. No one can really know unless they die. But I'd like to believe that there is going to be SOMETHING after we die. I mean it's pretty depressing if you think that after you die it's just.. nothing. My take on heaven and hell might be different from others. I do believe that they exist, but I don't believe the whole "oh if you steal/lie/commit adultery you're gonna burn for eternity!" shit. I mean we're human, we were made to have urges and needs, and I'm pretty sure that God didn't make us this way only to punish us later for how he made us. wacko.png

I believe that there is a "life" after death. It might be completely different from the way we perceive life as we know it now, but I'd like to think that there's gonna be something, and not just "nothingness".
