Hopefully you understand the 3 'problems' on server hardware

- Heat, you can easily heat up a small apartment to +5-10 degr. celcius with only few servers

- Noise (You don't want to live within same space with the server)

- Power consumption, depending on your configuration but will add-up to be clearly seen in bill.

 

1. Heat is not a problem for most people, let's be honest. Specially on the scale of gold farming as in 1 to 10 computers won't change much.

 

2. Noise is def a problem, but if you have a spare room you can chuck in the pc's in there.

 

3. power consumption is def a mayor thing.

 

The question is, is the power consumption equal to renting a dedicated server monthly? Have you done the math?

I can tell you that 10 servers in 20m2 room will add up the heat of that room upto 5-10 degrees celcius, and it is a major problem when thinking about hosting server grade hardware at home. Also 19" server is big as fuck, weights too much to be lifted alone, due to the fact it is heavy, wide, long.
