AMD vs Intel

Featured Replies

I'm guessing nobody here has actually made a computer?

It depends completely on the processor and what you intend on doing. AMDs have much better integrated GPUs on a general basis; Intels usually have better l2 and l3 caching in the entry level processors. A $200 AMD will be the dominant processor until you reach the i7 Extremes or E Series.

Both are solid choices, just do research.

If you mean by "made a computer?" buying pc as parts, i've at least.

Generally all price range intel beats amd. Expecially at 200$ (+20-40$) i5-3570k and newer i5-4670k wins amd 10-0

Amd wins only at encoding sometimes and gives advantage coz it's threads. Only thing i'm interested that if someone have tested running bots amd vs. intel

E3-1230v2 is 200$

4 cores 8 threads

kicks the shit out of AMD's 8 core.

Or i5-2500k. Outdated, but still holds up to par.

I've built many computers lol. And correct, your processor is only as fast as your ram is. But we're talking about high end CPU's. Anyone with bulldozer/piledriver or and i5+ processors is going to have a discrete gpu.

I have the i7-2600k in my desktop. It still surpasses AMD's top notch 8 core to this day.

I have the E3-1230v2 which is basically an i7-3770k for 200$ in my server. I've ran 6 bots on it (16gb of 2133mhz memory) and haven't seen anything above 15% cpu usage

AMD is like Chevy - made for the masses

Intel is like Audi - made for enthusiasts who want performance.

Intel makes superb processors, their graphics chips are horrid.

AMD has really good processors, but I'm not a big fan of their graphics.  (But they are still good for a lower price, compared to Nvidia)

AMD in no way, shape or form, beats Intel in processor speeds.

AMD bought ATI which designs their video cards.

Before AMD bought ATI, there was no such thing as graphics from AMD.

AMD has and always will make cpu's till it goes under. (look at their damn stock price)

Intel is the way to go.

They're just generally better.

My PC uses an Intel i5 processor and it can run 6+ bots at any time.

For me, it's obviously intel. They have preformed well for me for years. Right now my dedicated server is an i7, and my PC is an i3. My AMD laptop is complete crap. Even if you're going for a budget build, an i3 3220, is still only 130 bucks. Or you can bump it up and get a lot more power with the i7 4770k. Honestly just check benchmarks and you'll see.

AMD = Better for cheaper budget builds, works to a decent standard

INTEL = Better for gaming builds as it is slighty better.

I had both. Intel and AMD.

Might be a bit biased here since my AMD was way cheaper than my intel (currently I have a i7 3770K overclocked to 4ghz).

From my personal experience, intel's performance is better that might be due to the things I do. Mostly gaming.

If you are going to multi task, AMD's performance would be a better choice.

AMD is in general a cheaper alternative for intel.

Currently I have an AMD 4.0 ghz processor and I can run a good amount of bots; it also isn't overclocked.
