I've got a really nice Klipsch system right now in my room, but wondering if there are any other brands out there I should check out.

Computer sound systems will never beat the magic of natural instruments.

 

As a producer and musician I second this fully.

 

Though I'm positive the OP was regarding sound-systems and not instruments, as clearly specified in the title...

 

EDIT: 

Personally I've gone with a cheap ebay 500W amp and 600W LemonAudio DJ/PA speaker set-up which was dirt cheap for its strength.

I also have a pair of Sony headphones for when I need higher quality audio instead of enough bass to vibrate the whole apartment block.
