Lol you good buddy. This is a typical "jig" alot of people use to avoid paying.

There is no evidence you made that transaction. Not even your IP. And it says clearly what will happen if you dont pay, you will get suspended. What a shame.

what jig are you talking about?

    no evidence of what transaction?

If you looking for an alternative, take a look at Vultr. It basically offers the same service as DigitalOcean, but cheaper.

thx, I use Contabo nowadays and the difference in price is huge!

I understand, but didnt you think at a certain point that the service you are using will cost money? Surely it was stated when you registrered the account and- or purchased the VPS?

yeah I fucked up. I was under the impression that with the initial deposit that I made I was allowed to run the amount of VPS's I ran, and when my balance was up, I thought the servers would simply power off automatically. It did not even occur to me that I could accumulate a debt lol. my bad for not paying enough attention :feels:

Yes, that's because you have signed a contract which those things are addressed in. Normally when you pay a bill to late, they will make you pay even more. But you said accumulate to like 200-300, which means you knew the bill was getting higher?

Yes, but I didn't become aware of the growing debt until after I noticed that I no longer could connect to my VPS's via VNC. I logged onto my digital ocean account to see what was up and noticed the whopping debt of $200-$300. at this point the account was on hold/suspended and thus not allowing me to destroy the servers nor did it allow me to close down the account. In this situation I thought the debt wouldn't grow any more because I assumed digital ocean had shut my stuff down. like about a week later, for some reason I log back in to the account and see the debt had grown to like ~$400, and this is when I contacted support, they still haven't gotten back to me about this and the debt grows everyday and is now over $500.

I just hope the support gets back to me so we can sort something out

  4. to be fair though my account had accumulate to like $200-$300 debt when it got suspended. but the account continued to accumulate debt everyday as if the VPS's were still active even though after contacting the support telling them to close everything down

Honestly, I wanted to say the same(with more words), but didn't want to get in any type of trouble on the forums.

if the old mango lady gets in trouble ima have to pay up, would not be happy if something bad happened to her

    thats... illegal...

what if the address and info I used to register with Digital Ocean and Paypal is of an old Lady living on a mango orchard who has no clue about computers or any of the sort?

would she end up in trouble because of this?

I mean...it is over $500, I'm sure they'll attempt to get their money back. They got your address and information from PayPal when you sent the $5. Don't be surprised if you get anything in the mail or a debt collector starts calling you.

what if the address and info I used is of somebody who isn't me?

Technically they have the grounds to pursue legal action so....

oh rip, I guess I'm screwed then. gonna have to hide my kids and wife. if they take legal action, is there gonna be police and lawyers knocking on my door, or how does this work?

  9. I deposited $5 with PayPal to Digital Ocean to try out their VPS's, I noticed I was able to make several VPS's,

so I made 10 of them and had them running for some time eventually accumulating a $500 debt. no money has been drawn from my paypal balance or anything

and they claim they can not automatically deduct from PayPal accounts like they can from credit cards.

what is likely to happen here? am I out of the woods if I don't pay or can they force my arm somehow? What are the consequences of me doing this over and over again on different accounts?

It's a sketchy marketplace too, they could spend an hour doing something and if you don't like it then what forces you to pay? In my case I paid, and although it wasn't what I wanted and he was difficult, he still created something. Where's the line?

the line is blurry and hard to distinguish. maybe it would be fair that when you are dissatisfied with the result you get a 50% refund
