July 28, 201312 yr Okay. I'll try to explain this to the best of my abilities. When I am trying to make two grilled cheese sandwiches, ONE AT A TIME (Same pan), I always cook the first one successfully, turns out great. But.. when I throw the second sandwich into the pan, the pan is already too hot from the first sandwich cooking and it proceeds to burn my second sandwich. I've tried turning the burner down a significant amount, but it just doesn't cook, and turns out soggy. I've searched far and wide for help in the matter, but to no avail: I've even called the Children's Help Phone, but they just didn't want to take me seriously. This is not a joke, it actually pisses me off, so please let me know if anyone has a solution to this. Updates 7/28/13: I have thought of a strategy I will have to put to the test. I will eat the burnt grilled cheese first, so when I eat the perfected one, it gets rid of the nasty taste. Thanks, DJay Edited July 28, 201312 yr by DJay
July 28, 201312 yr You baffle me. You can write some of the most complex scripts yet you can't even figure out how to make a grilled cheese. -_-
July 28, 201312 yr take the pan off the burner as you are finishing the first one and put it back on the burner half way through the second one.
July 28, 201312 yr Author take the pan off the burner as you are finishing the first one and put it back on the burner half way through the second one. I will try this, thanks
July 28, 201312 yr Author use a different pan for the 2nd sandwich! I suppose I could try this.. I will use this as a last resort as I don't want to wash 2 dishes.
July 28, 201312 yr If you haven't yet, experiment with your cheese. Throw some marble in there I promise it'll blow your mind. And as for your question, its a mystery that's baffled me for quite some time as well.
July 28, 201312 yr You have to put it on for less time since the pan is already hot! gotta watch it the whole time :p
July 28, 201312 yr All of the advice on this thread is terrible, first of all are you buttering the pan? If so the thing that is causing the 2nd grill cheese to be burnt is the butter, after each grilled cheese sandwich take a wet cloth (Preferably paper towel as to avoid creating a burned towel) and wipe down your pan thoroughly. I'm a veteran grill cheese maker started at 13, I'm 19 and I work as a chef. Good luck. I've botted 99 Cooking Irl. Edited July 28, 201312 yr by l3reed
