Hey guys i got ios7 and before i begin yes this is the right firmware for my model (GUARENTEE). anyways once i shift+click up and choose my ispw it goes to extract the software then after about 2 minutes an error pops up saying "The iPhone "IPhone" could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3194)".

 

I have done some research and attempted all possible things...(host file, umbrella,etc.) CAN ANYONE HELP ME:(

 

EDIT: NO it is not jailbroken, and yes it is registered

Sounds like you are missing your keys. It thinks that it can't upgrade because it's not supported. Are you in DFU mode?

Is your device registered with Apple? I'am running iOS 7 just fine.

Is the device jailbroken? Also you can try to fully restore the device into iOS7 (this will however clear all apps etc.) you can do this by hooking up your device to your computer, then open up iTunes, then at go to your device and HOLD SHIFT + click on the restore button, then select your iOS7 firmware and it will restore your device to that.

What do you mean missing your keys?

Well, before you downgrade or upgrade your device, you should always save your keys with tiny umbrella. This helps in the future for errors such as this when you are having a converting error. Also, you could check your connection with Apple, because it has been known that they use a certain IP address with their updates. There is a file on your computer located within one of your iTunes folders that controls this. You will need to delete their IP address so you can bypass their verification server, so you can use the firmware you want to use.

I have deleted the gs.apple.com ip address in the hosts files

This might be a stupid question, but do you have to be a developer to get it?

Also just attempted to put into DFU mode and shit+click restore iphone and choose ios7 as the firmware to upgrade to, still had the error

@Kyle, well basically yes... however, there are always ways around it. People out there have leaked the developers update.

I have it on my Iphone 4, It ran like total crap when I got IOS7 Beta, but after a few weeks they released software update 1, and a few weeks ago upgrade 2, Now my phone runs pretty good and its the oldest model to be able to support it. They say you need a dev account but you don't, I downloaded a torrent the first week the beta was released, and instead of restoring the phone, i just did shift "search for upated" or w/e that button next to restore is called, then locate ios7 ipws and thats it, well for me at least that was it.

haha this can be a right bastard when this happens i have not done much to my iphone for a while, but i will suggest being very careful when these errors occur during installs a bootlaps can happen, if it does you have your self a nice little paper weight for your desk so be careful.

 

I would offer advice but i have been off track for a while and my mind is all over the place so i would not want to offer anything that could jeopardise  your device.
