I'm often getting 5-10 second interaction events even when the entity is clearly visible and next to my player.

I am using the latest client version, I never did the experiment on other version so I'm not sure if it's version specific (I doubt it though).

I am not using the mirror client.

I tried this in multiple scenarios (examining non-movable objects, pick-pocketing NPCs and attack NPCs) and the results seemed to be consistently not-as-good-as-they-could-be.

Snippet example of how I tested this:

    //TODO TEST VARIABLES
    private int interactions;
    private int interactionTime;
    private long totalInteractionTime;
    private long tempInteractionTime;
    private long deltaInteractionTime;
    private long highestInteractionTime;

//TODO TEST METHOD
if (target.valid() || target.find()) {
            log("target valid");
            log("moving camera");
            getCamera().toPosition(target.get().getPosition());
            log("interacting");
            interactions++;
            tempInteractionTime = System.currentTimeMillis();
            target.get().interact("Pickpocket");
            deltaInteractionTime = System.currentTimeMillis() - tempInteractionTime;
            if(deltaInteractionTime > highestInteractionTime) highestInteractionTime = deltaInteractionTime;
            totalInteractionTime += deltaInteractionTime;
        }

  • 1 month later...

I'll be testing interactions in general, just wanted to post to let you know that I read this.
