still doesnt work.. so im not sure what to do now :(

Make sure you download the latest client version, since that is the old one :P

I had the same exact problem as you dude, I also have windows 8 64bit and after a while of trying to figure it out I finally fixed it. I have xfinity internet and my internet modem was blocking port 50050 like Laz said to check. I had to connect to my modem with a wired connection and manually change the firewall settings. Try it out, and good luck.
