Can't install Windows 7 64bit due to MBR / GPT , I am really in need of help

Featured Replies

So today I got the old computer from my dad and it had windows 7 32bit installed.

I formated the partition to set the computer brand new up with windows 7 64bit which I have on CD.

However, I can't install it on the Partition because I get the following error:

"Windows could not install on this. The choosed Medium contains a MBR-Partitiontabell. On EFI-Systems can windows only be installed on GPT Medium"

Currently the computer has NO OS installed and I am really lost.

Please comment below if you can help me and if possible in the easiest way possible as my knowledge to this is like zero.

Thanks a lot

Burn a gparted disk on another computer to a LIVE CD and insert the cd, run it and fully partition the drive.

Gparted will allow you to format it correctly

Did you format the HDD to the right medium?

How?

As long as it has a disc drive it will work :)

I'm not sure if it's when you're formatting the HDD or when installing the operating system but you should have the option to chose GPT or MBR

Did you just format the partition of the whole HDD?

Remove the partition and create it again and then format.

Edit: Also you're trying to install on the wrong partition as your mouse highlights on it. Leave system partition alone and click on Partition 2.

Yeah you'll want to reformat all of the those partitions Into one, that's where the medium is conflicting

Remove the one that has the 455gb storage and give all to Partition 2 aka "Primär".

you cant expect to install windows on 100mb :doge:

try formatting the drive and try again, unless there is precious data stored on the hdd
