Amd or Intel?

Featured Replies

So if someone spends £1.3k on Nvida/Intel pc

would that smash someone with £1.3k Amd/Amd pc?

yes, yes it would.

yes, yes it would.

Not necessarily. Assuming that you spend less on the cpu, you would have more money to spend on the gpu which is what really matters in game. Cpu maybe influences 1-5 frames per second at max.

Yes, yes it will.

But you have to spend your money wisely, and put the money into the right parts to get the better results!

If you don't have a budget, then Intel.

I could not agree anymore. Intel is still very good for lower end stuff but farther down the line AMD is just dominating the market right now. They're also coming out with a 5ghz DEFAULT processor in a few months, The ones that are going to be in all PS4s and Xbox Ones. Crazy.

You get what you pay for... just look at the benchmarks.

A $200 Intel Core i5 and a $200 AMD FX 8350 run pretty much neck and neck in most benchmarks. The only difference is the Intel processors have 30%-50% faster single core performance. So with single threaded programs the Intel CPUs will walk all over the AMD ones. AMD does give you more cores for the money.

It really comes down to how much work can a particular processor do. The clock cycle speed and amount of cores are not a very good thing to look at when it comes to deciding. The best thing to do is know what programs you plan to run then look up the benchmarks for those programs.

As far a value goes, I really don't see how you can beat a Core i5 CPU. AMD still has some work to do on their processors to make them right because their FX line has too many bottlenecks.

Like many other have said Intel is the best option especially if money is of no concern. Heck even a tight budget can still get decent Intel CPU now days.

Farther down the line Intel is dominating, lol. And just because they're coming out with "5ghz DEFAULT processor" doesn't mean they're going to good, nor the best.

Which AMD CPU beats an Intel i7-3960X Extreme Edition?
