If you don't have a budget, then Intel.

I could not agree anymore. Intel is still very good for lower end stuff but farther down the line AMD is just dominating the market right now. They're also coming out with a 5ghz DEFAULT processor in a few months, The ones that are going to be in all PS4s and Xbox Ones. Crazy.

Farther down the line Intel is dominating, lol. And just because they're coming out with "5ghz DEFAULT processor" doesn't mean they're going to good, nor the best.

Nope. AMD is currently at the top of the market with there most recent release.

Which AMD CPU beats an Intel i7-3960X Extreme Edition?

AMD FX-9590 Eight-Core, It's got about a 2000 benchmark less but the price to performance ratio DOMINATES the 3960x. It's less that half the price of the 3960x. With no budget what so ever I would go with Intel. But with a budget I would do research and get a lot more bang for your buck such as I am.

-Maxing out on games

Intel.

4770k I've heard is great.

-Streaming while gaming

AMD.

FX-8350 recommended. Anything higher is simply overkill and really not worth it. If you've got enough cash to buy higher than an 8350, you might as well simply get a high end Intel build instead.

Based on many comparisons, the FX-8350 (or the higher up FX range) will beat ANY mid-high (Under ~$400) Intel desktop CPU on the market FPS wise when playing games while streaming using xsplit.

Tests were all done with the same graphics cards, harddrives, etc. Only difference was CPU+motherboard.

However, when not streaming the same tests show Intel to have slightly higher FPS on all games tested.

As for prices, AMD FX-8350 I recently purchased for $220. Nuff' said.

Hope this helps.

TL;DR

Are you a rich ********?

No: AMD > Intel.

Yes: Intel > AMD.
