Upgrade or build a new PC?

Featured Replies

Hi I was looking to improve my pc, mainly for gaming. My PC knowledge is fairly limited so I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to advise me whether it is better to upgrade my current computer, or simply start over and build a gaming computer?

I have also been looking at the Windows Experience Index for my computer (which is 5.2) and apparently it's not meant to be too bad, however I can barely run games on anything but the lowest settings or else I would get lag. Also get alot of browser lag when running pages such as FB/youtube/streaming(mainly firefox)

link attached to system summary, not sure if all is relevant or if some details are missing, if they are just let me know and ill update the post :D

It was only like $600 and I can game anything and never lag

You can buy one at http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Category/guidedSearch.asp?CatId=6&sel=Mfr;Mfr_107 for pretty cheap and usually free shipping :D not sure what country your from though, might need a different supplier than tigerdirect :)

my budget is $2500 AUD (roughly 2000 USD), and I am from Australia. Obviously 2500 is the limit don't really want to spend that much more :P.

The reason your Windows Index rates your system ~5 is because it bases the end result from your lowest score (usually hard drive)

What do you want to use the system for?

Well, it confirmed my suspicions.

You have bad in-game performance because you don't have a graphics card, you're running on-board graphics which is pretty awful.

If you know what RAM you have (exact model) then I recommend you buy another 8GB of it, that will help for streaming.

I would recommend you get a GPU, aside from that your whole PC is perfectly fine.

If you check the side of your power supply, could you tell me what it is? tongue.png Need to make sure that the power supply can handle a graphics card.
