Something similar to that has happened to me but every time it happened I just plugged a direct cable in to my laptop from my router, boom problem solved. Oh and I unplugged my modem/router and plugged it back in and that made the wireless start working again. Maybe try those, if not I'd contact your ISP (in your case Comcast?). Anyway I hope you get it working, and lol I wouldn't mention "bots" in front of your parents. Idk, maybe I'm just paranoid about how mine would react if they knew the things I did on the computer, not porn you perverted thinking trolls, the coding and games.

Its probably the way the connection is made, what DNS settings are on your router? If you're using standard ones I suggest putting 8.8.8.8 as your main one and 8.8.2.2 as your secondary.
