Whoooooo, when you get your overclocks worked in and stable that thing will out benchmark anything. Personally I game a lot so I would have spent less money on the processor since a 7 is overkill but that computer should be well balanced.

You may want to consider a custom loop for cooling though. All in one coolers are great, (I use one), but the thermal capacity just isn't there if you plan on running high voltage, or want to go silent. And for that price point I would want a sub 15db build.

Imo, the 780TI isn't worth the so much extra cost, and the fact I probably will never use that extra perforance. So went with a 780 with more DDR, so I was able to connact more monitors eventually.

The 6gb card is meant for SLI. A 780 on its own is not powerful enough to use 6gb. If you don't overclock the memory it's also not capable of using all 6gb too.

May I ask why you went for more memory on the card? I think you've misunderstood the point of the 6gb of vram.

As games get higher quality and resoluton gets bigger (4K) more memory will eventually also be used. I'm planning on having upto 4 Monitors 3+1 TV at the best point, so the fact that the 6GB model costed me around $100 more than te 3GB isn't really too much to hassle about. Eventually at some point I will most likely grand benefit from it. And in future I will get another GPU to run with SLI.

I chose the i7, because of the more threads which will come handy, since I tend to do a bit of editing work. I've had an i5 for 2 years now and think it's great, but I wanted to have the top of the list this time, without going insane extreme.

I have the H105, I'm going to put some of the best noctua fans on it so increase preasure and recude noice, so I'm not too worried about it being loud. Theese are the best fans avaible honestly :p

As it is right now it only contains 1 GPU, correct. But I will most likely uphrade to another one in future, if needed.

Nice. I recommend a different brand for power supply and maybe 1000+ watt.

Other than that it looks awesome.

If you have the cash maybe try setting up a dual monitor?

WHat's wrong with corsair, they're very reliable. 7 Years warrenty. And for the fact I didn't need anywhere near 1000W+ to run my system, it will mostly only pull ~550-600W at full load, so that I have possibility to upgrade with another GPU. The PSU is a modular 80+ Plat, so I don't see why you think it's bad? :)

SO this summer I'm going to build a $2500 custom dekstop PC together with a friend. Since I feel like I need a new one, and a tad more updated version.

This is what I've chosen so far. (Note: Nothing is final yet, altho I believe I'm quite happy with this.)

Parts I've already bought.

Parts that I've ordered.

  • Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
  • MoBo: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 1
  • PSU: Corsair AX 860i | 860 Watt
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB (1866 Mhz)
  • Storage: WD Black 4TB + Samsung 840 PRO 512 GB SSD
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 Liquid cooler together with 2x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM
  • GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 6GB PhysX CUDA

Later on:

  • Keyboard: Corsair Cherry MX RBG
  • Monitor: AOC 28" 4K LED U2868PQU

Please tell me what you think. happy.png

Just to point out, I'm building this in Denmark, therefore the prices are a lot higher than American prices, therefore it adds upto $2500 USD converted. (25% VAT)

its a beast.

The higher end Corsair PSU's are great and 1000+ watt would be overkill and waste

I like to have extra power incase I start upgrading or fancying up my PC.

Sometimes I get close to 950 watt and my PC should only reach about 700-800.
