Life after Death & The Paranormal

Featured Replies

I believe I'm going to heaven smile.png I love the thought of dying. I can't wait for it to happen, but I know i'm here for a reason. I can't wait to be with Jesus. What is funny is most people say religion is a waste and it isn't true. Just think of this. I don't believe in any of the paranormal stuff, look at the movies we have these days, it is easy to alter video and change and create anything you want. It is all fake smile.png

If God/Jesus is real and you don't believe in him, when you die, you are going to spend the rest of your life in Hell. I on the other hand will spend the rest of my life in Heaven!

Now think of this, If i'm wrong, woo i waste 5-10 hours a week studying the Bible, and spreading the word. I go in the ground and nothing happens and I won't know anything anyways. I will just waste away with no feeling or knowing.

Now if your wrong, now that sucks. You are going to spend your life in Hell. My upside is amazing, yours isn't. Your downside is the same as your upside, mine isn't.

Isaiah 66:24

"And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind."

Mark 9:43

If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It's better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.

Revelation 14:11

"And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."

Matthew 3:12

"His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

Matthew 13:41–42

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Revelation 20:15

And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

As respectably as I can say this. But as a former Christian.... Believing for the sake of avoiding punishment seems very contradictory.

I've encountered several paranormal experiences throughout my life time, the first one when I was about five and the last one I was fourteen. I don't have any explanation for them, but the first one terrified the crap out of me. I seen a smokey figure in my hallway,it smelled like some perfume and smoke. It was holding something, like a cigarette and I clearly remember the cherry on it so I thought it was one of my parents but when I called out to it the damn thing disappeared.  The last one I had a close friend of the family died and I had called him Uncle, since he was like a brother to my mom. I was in bed on a weekend so I was trying to sleep late and I heard my door open, the foot of the bed sunk down like someone sat down and I looked up but didn't see anything. He told me he was fine, and not to worry about him,as cliche as it sounds. After that I hadn't had any other experiences with the paranormal aside from me hearing the things that go bump in the night.

I've never seen aliens, but I do believe in them..the universe is too large, and there's far too many galaxies for me to say there's no possible intelligent life out there although even the smallest micro organism from any planet outside our own can be considered E.T.

As for where you go when you die and what happens, I don't know. I can't say that we just rot in the ground because I don't wholeheartedly believe that. Do I believe in Heaven? I think a spiritual plane exists. There's some interesting stories I've read about reincarnation such as people that don't fulfill their soul's mission will ultimately get put back onto Earth to try again. What confuses me there is,where do the new souls come from? There's no doubt we have way more people than we did even 50 years ago. Some other stories, as told by children that died in a previous life, recall picking out new parents with a man before being born.

At any rate, it's fun to believe in stuff, especially if you've had the personal encounters or know people that have stories about what they've witnessed. In the end,it's all stories though, you'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Really interesting reply, thank you :)

i personally think that there are no gods no masters, but i share your concern in "will i just rot in a whole in the ground while my mind is stuck in the everlasting void of oblivion?" but i've learned from having many viewpoints and aspects that the likeness of an afterlife while slim is possible, but not in the way many people think of it. i like to think maybe just maybe when we die we don't go to heaven or hell, but more like a place in Nirvana. Although this would just be you with your previous memories in a utopian society of utter perfection rather than heaven or hell. and i believe how they keep out the imperfection is that they just divide the mind into the places where they would be perfect, someone with a naturally homicidal mindset would be sent to a utopia of hunters plentiful with game to chill their bloodlust.

Your religion is the same as Judaism and Islam and even other more mystical religions in that they're all in the mindset of "if your not a devout member of +insert religion+ your going to their version of a hell.'

Well, I'm Catholic, and we believe that everyone has a chance at "heaven." Whether you believe or you don't. It's just up to you if you go for it.

I believe there is nothing after death and that there is no such thing as the paranormal. That is just me though. I think when you die, it all turns black. You can't see can't hear, nothing. Everything is just black.

I hate to say it but in the back of my mind I believe this is true. I'd like to tell myself that after I die I will still be living but it just doesn't make any sense to me. I have gotten the feeling that I have lived a moment before though. This, however, could be from actually experiencing it before, or experiencing it in a dream that I do not remember. Hopefully I get proved wrong when I die but I somehow don't think I will.

its simple, its not you get punished.. its all bout faith, and grace threw the lord jesus.. you dont get punished. lol your whole life this has been present, god, devil.. but maybe your life has been rough and you may of not always had this in mind. but youre on the forum and youre reading about this.. maybe its true. maybe god wants you to believe in him, i feel that its close to the time we go home in a sense. look at all the things going on in the world.

What? I was brought up in catholic school and that's not what they believe. They believe you're born with original sin and if you aren't baptised then you do not go to heaven. A pretty ridiculous belief if you ask me.

Wow just found a massive piece of irony from you in another thread that I'd like to point out.

Quote from you: " they're set back to the beliefs their ancestor held in the 1800s. It's not a bright lot." Imagine then how someone might feel about people who are set back to beliefs of people from thousands of years ago. Think about your belief.

Surrounded by religion my whole life and my opinion is it's bullshit. I've had enough of it in all honesty. I don't know why people are so scared about what happens when they die. If you're dead and there is nothing why is that scary? You won't be able to comprehend scary, or anything, because you'll be dead. Why do people have to do good for the sake of what happens after they die, why can't they just do good for the sake of doing good.

As for paranormal, just lol. Don't watch ghost hunters or any of these people that claim they can contact the dead. They're in it for the money, and whenever they're asked to prove it under reasonable conditions they cannot do so. Derren Brown does really good stuff on mediums and their horse shit.

Where is this Catholic school? As what you've been taught is not right according to Catholicism. Even Pope Francis has said recently Atheists and other non-Catholics have a shot for heaven. Also, there's a major difference the KKK/racism and religion.

That's a genuine catholic belief from the bible I don't know why you would think otherwise. I live in the UK. Although you are right Pope Francis has very recently come out and said that he thinks God would accept atheists into heaven if they are good and I find Pope Francis to be pretty awesome as far as Popes go.

I wasn't comparing the KKK and religion I was comparing peoples old and out of date beliefs.

I don't belive in life after death, if you have ever passed out or gone thru a surgery you'll know how it feels being dead, just gone puff, that's it, it's like when you sleep, that's why i belive life is a gift and should not be wasted.

The papacy and all other religions eventually bow down to reason and science. Not that they should and I'm not implying science and reason would be superior to the supernatural, but all religions progressively, even though it may takes decades to do so, begin accepting secular ideologies. Many of the major religions accept evolution, even though it conflicts with their ideology; they make excuses like, our book should not be interpreted literally, etc... Of course this is done to avoid looking completely ridiculous.

I would believe in life after death if it wasn't for the fact that when some people are not born with fully capable brains as most other people are born with they cannot do certain things.

Some people that have not had a certain neurological pathway open may not be able to move their legs or talk or something else of the sort.

When we die our brain ceases to work since there is no more oxygen taken in and no blood is pumped to keep a person going.

So in my opinion the thought of life after death is probably not possible due to the fact that when we die all of our important organs that make life possible; stop.

If I was told by my aunt that my uncle died and he left me 10 billion dollars I would try to claim it as quickly as possible, or at least check to see if what she told me was true.

So i get to the office where i claim the 10 billion dollars and they tell me that it wasn't for me. Of course It would be disappointing but life would go on regardless of the fact that I could

have received 10 billion dollars.

In other words it's just the thought of having the 10 billion dollars (or life after death) which is what im losing. I'm still alive and well, life is still going on, and i've got to go home to play runescape. :)

Yea man but why god has to make this "Faith" thing if he exist, i mean to prove what? why don't he just come out and tells everyone the right path, and then whoever go wrong face the consecuenses but i cannot belive something other person told me that i've never seen, even worst, the he never seen, it just doesn't make sence what'st the whole point, if know i was created by a god, i would love him like christians do and even more, but all i can say is that if something created us doesn't love us, don't get me wrong, i live a good life, health, family never missed anything, clothes, food, etc, but still i don't think god gave my parents their success, they worked their asses off.

Also people like to belive in god when they have no escape, not as a primary thing as it should be if you belive in, in conclusion i belive all the life after death and god is product of people's imagination to satisfy themselves when they're lost, cause if you can prove all they say is true, i would be the happiest person ever regardless of whatever happends, imagine that you'll live forever after dead, also what makes it differnet from the old egypt gods and the modern god? i can see a new "god" coming in the next 1,000 years.

This is what pisses me off, when people try to convince me that they are going to heaven cause they read a book more than me, dude, that's so wrong for you to belive in that, cause i bet if there was life after death and i didn't belive in him for whatever reason he would reject me if i did good, it makes no sence, actually non belivers that did good should be accepted easier than the "Belivers" cause they did good without expecting anything in return, also hell was invented by man.

I believe that when you die you are instantly reincarnated as another organism, any organism.

As for the paranormal, I don't believe in any of that :P

Interesting thought that our life force would be transferred into a new organism :)
