Other forms of life

Featured Replies

Do you believe in other forms of life other than on Earth? Do you believe that they may have discovered us but we have yet to discover them? I'd like to hear what you guys all think about this.

Yes but I dread the day they discover us. If they come to us we're fucked. They probably ain't gonna show any mercy. Same with us. When it comes to a point in time when we discover another land. We are going to kill it off and use its resources. That's how humans are

Yes, but do you believe the others in the universe are only humans? Or could they be a different race that we have yet to discover?

OT: There is more planets in the universe then there are grains of sand on every beach in the world. Life forms don't have to come in shapes like we do, but there is billions if not trillions of planets out there and obviously many of them have life form in some way. I mean look at Mars, I bet it that was a great planet once filled with lots of life eventually killed by something and the planet just "died". Anyway I do believe that there is other life forms outside of the world.

If you want to be technical, there was living bacteria discovered on places other than Earth.

So technically, aliens exist.

In theory, aliens do exist. I believe we have detected spores and some bacteria in space. It is likely that we aren't detecting more bacterium because they may not have the same biochemistry that we are used to seeing (carbon based life). We do know of sulfur based life and most of NASA's biologists are convinced that life can thrive on arsenic.

Given the size of the universe, there may well be a flying saucer, who knows. Any civilization that could travel millions of light-years for the shits and giggles could easily remain undetected by us.

To think other forms of life wouldn't attempt to kill us off to take our resources is plain ignorance. Since the beginning of the human race we have attempted to Invade our enemies. E.g. Romans taking over Carthage( a major reason is the threat of their growing power. And then after the roman empire prospered for over 500 years). Do you think if we find say a planet with growing amounts of oil protected by not as developed life forms we wouldn't take over it?

My answer may seem 13 year old like but it is the truth. I'm just saying if there was life forms capable of finding us and coming to our planet it's all over.

To that point, a civilization that can travel millions of light years would view us like ants. I doubt we can provide anything they need or want. We are certainly not the best source of metals or water or energy really. They would have an advanced understanding of genomics and could probably create any life form they would like. So they wouldn't come here for our biological material.

I think the Drake Equation is a little exaggerated but it says that there are around 2000 communicable civilizations.. But that theory alone suggests there's plenty of life within our galaxy alone. The real problem is traveling all those light years.

If they were of equal or greater intelligence than humankind they would most likely contact and negotiate with us before anything like that would occur.. Unless, for whatever reason, their own resources were dire.

in that case, they would have already contacted us right:

if yes: there are 2options,

1: they don't excist because they didn't contact us.

2: they excist but the government doesn't tell us ( probably)

if no:

they see us as ants and don't wanna contact us because we're not worth it.

As Kati said, bacteria have been found.

I like to believe that there are more planets somewhere out there filled with some kind of "aliens."

However, seeing as in the years that we've been here they haven't discovered us or we them, I'm going to live out my life in my little world not giving a fuck. happy.png

Of Course i belive there's life out of here, but i don't think it's anywhere near us tho, someday, people will travel from planet to planet, you'll see.

I see your point and nothing wrong with it, we're not going to meet anytime soon, even tho there's a project already looking to expand our lifes to mars, google MarsOne, 2023 here we go.

Oil is not that important anymore, they have made cars move out of water, it's just kills the multibillionaire oil business, also the solar panels, they were going to replace the oil, and the oil owners just bought whatever was needed to make them and skyrocket their price so it doesn't replace oil but at the beggining it was to cheap to make a solar panel that you wouldn't belive it.

EDIT: i also like to add that i belive in inmortality, i belive that bodys are like cars, you can replace any piece to make it work again, as long as the brain doesn't die, you're good to go, just science have to advance but don't worry guys, noone will ever know if this is possible, actually it is, but wont be possible cause imagine everyone being inmortal, we wouldn't fit in the planet, maybe of we move to mars one day.

Shit, what if theyre not even corporeal. They can possibly exist in a complete other form of existence completely alien to us (pun not intended). I laugh at those who deny the possibility of life off of earth. Even if by the slimmest chance there isnt, it is so incredibly unlikely, to believe it doesn't exist is near blasphemous to modern science.

Just reading this thread makes my IQ drop (inb4 someone corrects my statement which is made to portray a point).

Everyones got a right to their own beliefs, but man.. Stupidity breeds.

ontopic:

I believe their is other sentient life (a direct answer to the question I think the OP was trying to ask). My opinion is based on the odds, it's something like a 99.99999999999999999999999%+ possibility that sentient life exists somewhere else in the Universe.
