Might want to major in CS! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Featured Replies

Ive already made a thread about this, but Im still skeptical about taking Computer Science as a major. Im wrapping up HS and Im contemplating what to do thereafter. Im currently taking AP CS at my school and I find it fun as hell. I always liked computers, and I've been messing around with them for such a longgggg time. My CS teacher brags about how much a CS degree is worth, and I'm doing it both for the money and for the passion. My GPA was a piece of shit in HS so Im going to community college for a year then transferring over to a 4- year institution.

My real question is: Anyone major in CS got any tips? regret/like your decision? Could of improved in something? Possibilities/Extras that might awaken? Minor?

Anything helps, thanks <3

I am doing a degree in economics, look how great I am

I have no experience in this, but in my opinion it would be better to major in something useful (Mathematics, Engineering, etc) and then for your minor take Computer Science. Mostly everything you learn about computers you can learn online (I'm pretty sure @pyroryan never took a computer class in his life but don't quote me on that) so you should use college to learn things that would be otherwise difficult to learn.

Those two implications actually loop in with one another. Try again.

I'm doing a degree in Computer Science.

Go into CyberSecuritiy, That's where the money is at, atm

Need to go where the money is at! Do research and look over things such as payment/ employment/ all that bs

I understand how you feel Cinnamon, I am going through the same situation. I guess it depends on how you handle it as your major and how passionate you are about it.

Listening to other people's opinions will just confuse you.

As for the low gpa and going to community college and then transfering, fuck, me too :( :( :(
