Script Writing

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I'm currently lost where to begin with script writing.

I know how to work with Java, but I have no idea where I'd get a script skeleton or the required API.

Anyone out there that know where to begin that would be willing to provide me with links?

as said above go to the api and also go to local scripts section and check out open source scripts they help you understand the way a script work

http://osbot.org/api/ is osbots API has lots of useful stuff in it. im not great with javascript yet so i cant say what to do with it but this the api url.

we use Java to script. Javascript and Java are two different languages check this http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_javascript.xml happy.png

Hi

This'll be the wrong section, if you have extensive java knowledge try reading OSBot's API and look for scripting tutorials on other botting sites. Or you could PM a script writer on this community to help you out :)

thanks, still very new to java code altogether.

What I did was get Eclipse Juno, though I started with some experience from RSBot scripts here and there. Then I went into minecraft serverside mods (Plugins). I came here and asked a couple of people in chat how I could get started, and they got me on the right path. "The Stairway to Bot Heaven" - LedZeppelin

I learned to code naturally from just trial and error. Not specifically for OSBot but OSBot just adds on to my knowledge of Java I guess.

I'll just use a script as a guide, and work from there.

Thanks everyone!

I read a book on Java code and even though it was well written, I still didn't have any practice, and that is what makes a good scripter. Just play around with the API and with eclipse and get familiar with those two things, try making basic skeletons and simple scripts like:

An iron powerminer.

A Curser

Something simple just to get you going and if you are ever stuck, message a well known script writer and I am sure they will give you some assistance, goodluck with your endeavors and have fun scripting. ^_^
