having children

this is a very serious discussion

recently Belgium has a new tv show where people with down syndrome / retards / authisme / any other dysfunctional thing in there head are set to date each other the first two episode i saw with my girlfriend i laughed because it was pretty funny but it made me think should people with down syndrome breed? like why create more people like that ? i'm not sure what the program was supporting it's been canceled now because it was kinda offensive i do understand people with a handicap breeding and having children because the chances of them getting a normal child is bigger then getting one with down syndrome

It's morally wrong to say they shouldn't be able to reproduce, they are humans just like each and every one of us. The thing is, being disabled does make you inferior, not inferior in sense of power, but inferior as a human(In relation to the rest of our race).

We set ourselves apart from any other living organism due to our potential, take that away and we're.. useless & that's what a rationalist/realist would say. It's hardcoded in our functionalist mind to do whatever we do to ensure survival and growth as a race so if someone doesn't think they should reproduce, fine by them, it's their opinion and I greatly respect it.

However i've met many disabled kids (-/+ my age) who have been.. so kind hearted, genuine people who treat you with love to the point where it makes you question, 'What is the human race without it's purest essence, love?'

Any human or other race that emits the feeling of love should reproduce, in the end of the day that's the only pure thing we've got left in this cold world.. there's a famous saying my mother would say about my father and most of the men in this world and it's a saying I never forget..

'A man with two brains has only half a heart, a man with half a heart is left only with half a soul.'

No I won't call you heartless at all, I completely respect your opinion and infact, I would disagree with myself at times, our opinions and perspective of life changes with the experiences that we go through. We're molded by everyday life

There's always a rationalist's point of view & a moralists point of view

a very honest point of view, respect

You guys act as if they're a different species?

"Breed"? They are just like everybody else in this world, provided the same rights and freedoms as those around them. They are allowed to do anything they want (within the rules and regulations of their law system of course).

I REALLY think you're being shallow minded in the way you say "I laughed because it was pretty funny but it made me think should people with down syndrome breed? Like why create more people like that?" That has to be the rudest way anyone's ever put it, I really don't think you'll ever understand. I grew up with no parents and in school one of the people in my "cliche" had down syndrome, he was actually the nicest guy I've met in my life thus far, only a couple of months back he got his girlfriend pregnant, doctors are saying there is every chance the baby is going to have down syndrome, but who cares? They're still people and they don't want people like YOU to look at them differently because of a birth defect? How would you like it if people stared at you all day every day and said you couldn't have kids because you're born with Down Syndrome. I seriously question your maturity in even bringing up a topic like this, let alone you having a girlfriend.

if the show is made for entertainment aren't i supposed to be entertained this has nothing to do maturity i just have a different humor from you. also  there is no point in flaming me you shouldn't get so upset about it instead of pointing out a decent answer all you did was point out that i was wrong and to be honest i do care about people with down syndrome i'm against them having children that's my honest opinion you don't have to be all emo on me

Of course they should be 'allowed', you can't stop them having kids just because they're different lol. However if someone with down syndrome wants to have kids they should be fully educated as to what it entails, bringing a child into this world with such disadvantages isn't fair, not to mention the fact that most people with downs can not care for themselves, let alone a child. Don't laugh at disabled people, it's really not funny.

also it's kinda retarded of you for judging me about laughing tbh which was the whole point of the show if he was such a good friend of yours and u guys never shared a laugh i really doubt the story you've given me

no, they should not. why breed a kid with the same conditions thats pointless.

back in days in the old Greece/Egypt they use to kill the kids with this kind of syndromes, they threw them to a ravine and let them die drowned or eaten by aligators.

dont call me heartless but thats kinda true and what if my soon born with this problems? ill take care of him ofc is my son, what else i can do. just lets hope he doesnt born with this.

Well, I would agree with Crazyftw. It would not be a great life for the one who was born with it.

Well personally if society as a whole wants to progress easier we should be looking to remove any abnormalities, sort of in the same way as coding, you remove any 'bugs' in your code to make it perfect
