I3 or I5?

Featured Replies

I am buying a gaming pc and the specs so far are I3 core, 8gb ram, 1.5tb hardrive, gtx 660 and much more. What would be better to bot on though? An I3 or and I5. I will be doing 6-8 bots when I get my computer, then when I start making a lot more money, i'll keep doubling. Any idea on which processor to get?

How are you botting 6 - 8 bots?

You can only open 1 tab.

I plan on buying VIP very soon

I5 is much better for gaming or in your case botting.

Well it depends on which model you get. the i3, i7 etc is just partly just marekting. If you plan on botting, I actually recommend getting an AMD build. The FX8320 is great value.

What's the difference between an i5 and an FX8320 then? And also is an AMD Bulldozer better than the FX8320?

Just read this site http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/best-cpu-the-8-top-processors-today-1046063/3#articleContent and looked at the charts and it seems as though the i5 is better than AMD

The FX8320 has 8 cores. Even though it is higher frequency than something like the i5 4670 (FX is 3.5GHz, that i5 is 3.4GHz) , it will perform worse per core since intel is better in that field. But since the FX has 8 cores vs 4, it is generally more powerful. Then if you compare the prices of the two, the FX is £50 cheaper.

I believe that the bulldozer CPUs are the last generation CPUs so no, they generally won't be as powerful.

Well the only important test the i5 won was the gaming one, anyway, that was comparing the 8350 not the 8320. Since this is to be built for botting, I think it's worth getting the cheaper, generally more powerful 8320.

Intel has the best cell architecture, just save up and buy a i7 it will be better in the long run... and don't fall for amd's super sexy specs, it will turn out to be a piece of shit in comparison. Go on pcpartpicker

No, don't save up for an i7. They're cost to performance ratio is just so stupid. Buy the best i5 you can for your budget (overclockable if you can).

e.g.

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)  $199.99

Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) $449.99

It's a no brainer really, if you've got a spare $250 to waste on 2 cores (that you'll be extremely hard pushed to find a use for anyway...) then go ahead, if not get the best i5 you can.

edit: and yeah don't go near amd
