Learn how to Code Scripts.

Featured Replies

Hi there! My name is Matt and I am a diligent RuneScape player.

I am interested in coding scripts, and getting into that sort of thing.

If anyone could tell me where i can learn, maybe video guides or something, and the best software to use for this please let me know!

This book helped me when I started a couple years ago. Don't get into scripting for at least a week or two, focus on java itself, understand the way of the java. Then you shall pass.

I don't have to pay for this eBook do I?

Plus, is there any way i can contact you futher about all this? i may have a question or two.

This is a really good way to start learning:

And once you understand Java pretty well then possibly move onto scripting:

Be aware that just like @GoldenGates said above you need to have a solid understanding of Java before getting into scripting. I know it seems easy at first but I made the mistake of jumping into scripting to fast and not understanding how to actually create objects and use methods correctly. I was lost and had to go back to learning Java for awhile, as should you if you begin scripting and are confused over why something works/doesn't work/overall misunderstanding of what to do. If you have any questions also feel free to PM me :)

As the above people said:

First java, then scripting.

I had same situation as Swizz ph34r.png

The more java you learn, the better it will work out for u in the future.

Make sure you create projects and do everything as they do in the video, watching is NOT enough!

Check out some of theNewBoston's java videos, he has a ton of them. Once you make it through most of the beginner stuff and fully understand it, then you can start looking into scripting :)

Now you tell me... L0L.

It's okay though, because I'm applying to college as a Computer Science major because haha #yolo!

Honestly, I would like to learn to script, but I currently don't really have the time to learn, at the moment.

I have great ideas too, but I don't really want someone to take the credit for my idea(s).

Thanks for the advice!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheers!

edit: Please don't ask (ask I mean flame) me why I decided to want to major in Computer Science...
