Client - VPN/Hide IP

Featured Replies

If possible could we implement (in the future), a version of osbot which hides or anonymizes the user's ip from jagex.

I would be happy to pay extra a month for this ability.

This can be done through the Proxy settings for Java applets so should be possible - http://www.java.com/en/download/help/proxy_setup.xml

/thoughts?

Idk why it hasn't be added to be honest, this feature would be amazing. They could easily charge extra and people would pay for it, increasing revenue for them and also become the only bot withe the add on.

Updated first post with link to explain in more detail.

I am currently researching into options such as Hidemyass etc. as I believe this is one of the options we should look into before mass botting!

You could simply download a VPN yourself and switch between options.

Currently that is my plan of action. The whole community would benefit if this was implemented into the client ;)

Hotspotshield could be an option, anyone tested it out?

Not a good option at all. It's free and recycles IPs.

Any other suggestions, don't want to limit my speed tho, as I torrent a lot.

Anyone have any other suggestions, otherwise I'll go ahead and test out a premium VPN.

Can you imagine the administrative overhead...? In order to prevent people from getting mass banned, everyone would need a different IP, which means a different VPN server. How would the admins manage all of those servers...? And VPN doesn't exactly work that way.

Alternatively, proxies can be used. However, the admins would have to set up so many proxy servers that it's just impossible...
